Miami Car Crash Leaves 2 Men Critically Injured

It is no secret that auto accidents are a far too common occurrence on the streets of Miami. This past week was no exception. Consider a recent article for WSVN titled “2 men critically injured in South Miami crash.”
The author of the article writes, “U.S. 1 reopened between SW 57th Avenue and 70th Street after a violent crash in South Miami sent two men to the hospital in critical condition, Tuesday morning. Police were dispatched to the scene along Southwest 57th Avenue and US 1, sometime before 4:30 a.m. 7Skyforce flew over the scene where debris could be seen scattered all over the road, including the car’s engine, bumper and tires. ‘Its terrible, I mean you see parts of the engine at one part, you see the car pretty much just blown apart,’ said South Miami Police Sgt. Henry Guzman. According to officials, the silver two-door BMW was traveling northbound when it lost control and slammed into the side of a business at the Shops at Sunset Place. The impact was so strong, it ejected the driver and passenger from the vehicle. ‘It appears that speed was a factor,’ said Guzman. ‘Right now, the Miami-Dade Traffic Homicide unit is doing their investigation, and they’ll be able to tell you more after everything is all completed.’ According to Chief Rene Landa of the South Miami Police Department, both drivers were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. ‘We know for a fact they weren’t wearing their seat belts at the time. Both of the people in the car were ejected out of the car.’”
