Car WreckedCar accidents are an unfortunately common occurrence in Miami. Consider a recent article for NBC Miami titled “Owner of Vehicle Suspected in Miami Hit-and-Run Crash Meets With Police.”

According to the author of the article, “The owner of a white Mercedes SUV which may have been involved in a Miami hit-and-run crash that injured five young people over the weekend went to speak with Miami Police Monday morning. Jose Calzadilla, the owner of the SUV that may have been involved in the crash, arrived at Miami Police headquarters along with an attorney to meet with detectives regarding the ongoing investigation. Calzadilla and his attorney refused to comment to reporters on the way in. After meeting with police, his attorney, Yoel Molina, said they met with officers to cooperate in the investigation. Molina also said Calzadilla was not behind the wheel, ‘Right now, based on information we have there is no reason to believe he was the driver.’ According to a police report, a blue Chevy Aveo was illegally parked facing southbound in front of the Three Fingers Lounge, located at 4368 Northwest 17th Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Saturday when four of the five occupants exited the vehicle and headed into the store. A fifth person, the driver, remained in the vehicle. Just as the four individuals went to get back into the car, a white Mercedez Benz SUV with Florida tags EQSW23 drove onto the sidewalk and slammed into the group, then rear-ended the Chevy, injuring all five victims. Witnesses told police the driver of the Mercedes stopped and exited the car and uttered some words to the victims. He then got back into his SUV and fled the scene, according to a police report.”
